If you've been anywhere near Twitter in the past 24 hours, you'll be well aware of the spat going on between Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj in response to the VMA Best Video announcement earlier this week. Now there's even more bad blood, as Katy Perry has waded in, bringing Rihanna with her.

It all started after Nicki tweeted her disappointment at being snubbed for a VMA in the Video Of The Year category for her record-breaking Anaconda video and blasted MTV. Hinting at racial bias in the music industry she tweeted: 'When the ‘other’ girls drop a video that breaks records and impacts culture they get that nomination.' She then added in another tweet: 'If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year.'

Taylor, 25, seemed to think the tweet was about her and replied: 'I've done nothing but love & support you. It's unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot.'

After Nicki explained she hadn't been directing the tweet at her, Taylor shortly backtracked, inviting Nicki to come on stage with her to accept the award if she were to win.

The Twitter storm waded on, with Nicki retweeting many of the responses from fans and famous friends. And it wasn't long before Katy Perry - assumed to be the subject of Taylor's hit Bad Blood - released some tweets thought to be weighing in on the debate.

Without directly replying to either music star, and leaving her message free of Twitter handles, she commented: 'Finding it ironic to parade the pit women against other women argument about as one unmeasurably capitalizes on the take down of a woman..'

Shortly after, she added: 'The real travesty is where is the shine for #BBHMMVideo when VMA eligibility period was 7/7/14-7/1/15 & that gem dropped 7/1... @MTV.'

We don't think this is the last word on this Twitter spat. Stay tuned.
