In today’s ‘HAHA Ukip’ news, senior housing and environment spokesman Andrew Charalambous has been exposed as holding a fake degree and pretending to be a professor of environmental sciences.
‘Andrew Charalambous does not have a PhD, nor does he claim to have a PhD,’ another Ukip spokesperson said. ‘The Facebook page which makes the claim was not authored or controlled by him.’ Charalambous also backed this up, saying that ‘website people take stuff from various places and they put that on there.’
When questioned earlier by The Times, Charalambous had insisted that he holds a doctorate (‘A PhD in the parallels between Plato’s Utopia and Spartan Society’) from the same institution as his professorship.
Thing is, the Universitas Sancti Cyrilli – based in Malta, and where he claims to be a professor – said yesterday that it wasn’t a university and isn’t able to give out degrees. It’s an educational institution, but had no buildings, headquarters or staff in Malta.
Last night, Charalambous removed all mention of the professorship from his website, as well as claims that he is a ‘qualified Barrister-at-Law’ and a ‘Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts’. Which doesn’t look suspicious or laughable at all.

This isn’t the first time the spokesman has got into hot water with regards the truth – his website states that there are 750,000 British citizens ‘homeless or sleeping rough’, whereas Crisis cite the figures at 185,000 as of last year. He also states there are one million homes planned for the British green belt and countryside, whereas the Campaign to Protect Rural England have the figure at 700,000.
According to one of his official websites, Charalambous says he has ‘lived with indigenous tribes including the Dayek, so-called “headhunter” tribe of Kalimantan, Borneo’ and that he has been ‘commissioned as a Colonel by the American state of Kentucky’. Oh, and that he is a dragon and sometimes flies into the moon.
Alright, we made that last one up. Anyway, good to know that were UKIP to get into power after the next General Election, this will be the guy looking after all of our housing woes...
