Jessica Alba has broken her silence on the current lawsuit against her organic, natural health and beauty brand, Honest Company. One Jonathan D. Rubin has filed for legal action against the brand, claiming that there are many 'unnatural' and 'synthetic' ingredients in the their products.

In a statement, Alba wrote "Seven years ago, when I was pregnant with my first daughter, I was frustrated by the lack of healthy and safe product options for me and my new family. In fact, prior to launching The Honest Company, I began lobbying Congress to require that ingredients used in everyday products are tested for safety prior to entry into the marketplace,"

"I started The Honest Company to develop safe and effective products not just for my children, but for families everywhere. I am very proud that we have built this company into an industry leader focused on using natural ingredients and developing products that people love. We believe that consumers deserve to know what's in their products - whether it's diapers for their children, cleaning products for their families or beauty products for themselves."

"Our formulations are made with integrity and strict standards of safety, and we label each ingredient that goes into every product - not because we have to, but because it's the right thing to do."

Alba went on to say that the allegations are "baseless and without merit". Watch this space - Jessica, we'll see you in court.

Jessica Alba's hugely sucessful Honest Company, which specialises in natural and organic beauty and health products, is being sued, according to reports. The company has been hit with a lawsuit claiming its products are "deceptive", because they aren't all-natural, according to People.

In legal documents obtained by the magazine, a consumer called Jonathan D. Rubin claimed that many of the products contained "unnatural" and "synthetic" ingredients and also said that the Honest Sunscreen product was "ineffective".

The documents also single out a number of products including Honest Hand Soap, Honest Diapers, and Honest Multi-Surface Cleaner, as particularly "misleading" for consumers.

"Plaintiff Jonathan D. Rubin brings this lawsuit against Honest individually and on behalf of a nationwide class including all other similarly situated purchasers of the Products," the suit read.

Earlier this month, the company responded to complaints from users that their suncream was so ineffective, users were getting sunburned. After several Twitter users posted the results on social media, Honest responded with the following statement:

"The Honest Company is committed to providing safe and effective products, and we take all consumer feedback very seriously.

"Our Sunscreen Lotion was tested, by an independent 3rd party, against the protocols prescribed by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration's (FDA) monograph for over-the-counter sunscreen products. The results showed that our product is effective and safe for use as an 80 minute water-resistant (FDA's highest rating), SPF 30 sunscreen lotion in accordance with FDA regulations when used as directed (Shake Well. Apply liberally and evenly 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply after 80 minutes of swimming or sweating, immediately after towel drying and at least every 2 hours)."

"The number of complaints received on our own website about our Sunscreen Lotion constitute less than one half of one percent of all units actually sold at honest.com."

Jessica Alba's all-natural Honest Company has come under fire after users took to social media to complain about sunburn after using the company's sun cream.

Users on Twitter and Amazon have been posting bad reviews of the product, accompanied by painful-looking sunburn photos - despite the product advertising an SPF of 30.

NBC5 in Chicago launched an investigation into the claims, and found that the naturally-derived, non-toxic sunscreen has reduced levels of zinc oxide, well below the standard levels of 18-25 per cent.

But in a statement to People, the company, which is hugely sucessful in the US, stood by their product:

"The Honest Company is committed to providing safe and effective products, and we take all consumer feedback very seriously.

"Our Sunscreen Lotion was tested, by an independent 3rd party, against the protocols prescribed by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration's (FDA) monograph for over-the-counter sunscreen products. The results showed that our product is effective and safe for use as an 80 minute water-resistant (FDA's highest rating), SPF 30 sunscreen lotion in accordance with FDA regulations when used as directed (Shake Well. "The number of complaints received on our own website about our Sunscreen Lotion constitute less than one half of one percent of all units actually sold at honest.com."

The company has currently run out of the product online.
