If you're phone's had the most recent Instagram update, you might be noticing some slight changes. And by slight changes we mean everything has changed. RIP old Insta, you were great.
Sure, in a week's time we’ll have forgotten the old retro brown and white camera icon, the way the feed wasn’t merged into one giant scrolled list and whatever other features it had (see, we’re already forgetting) but for now this multicolored swirly icon is TOO fancy.
Instagram released a statement stating that five years on from the launch, they have become a has become 'a global community of interests'. They’ve apparently been 'inspired by all the ways the community has grown and changed and wanted to create something that reflects how vibrant and diverse storytelling on Instagram has become.’ Which is all very sweet and twee, and true – Instagram has become a place of community where people meet and become friends – but does the way our feed look need to change to reflect this?
People are conflicted about the new design. Some love it, some hate it. We’re not overly keen but we won’t lose sleep over it. The new sleek, white framed design is pretty easy on the eyes, and those white navagation logos are trendy AF, but can you blame us for being just a little nostalgic for the old polaroid camera icon?
