We all tap Hudson, Perpetua, maybe even the odd Moon when we’re feeling artsy, but it’s Instagram’s newest filter that’s got people talking a lot more positively. Yesterday Instagram, home to 500 million accounts and counting, launched a new tool to help users moderate abusive, offensive or just plain spammy comments.

With this tool, safeguarding your Insta-Happy Place is now loads more efficient. So it’s not just the swipe left-option to individually blocking and reporting trolls. By listing specific keywords and phrases, you’ll clear annoying and evil comments en masse. (Insert clapping emojis here!)

Not sure how to use the comment filter tool? Hop on to your Instagram profile page, then:

1. Tap the Settings icon in the upper right-hand corner. Scroll down and tap Comments.

2. Activate the Hide Inappropriate Comments option, and add any keywords you like.

It’s one of Instagram’s bigger changes, along with Stories and Zoom. Previously only available to celebrities and public figures, Kylie Jenner tweeted she’s been using the keywords tool to disable comments from pesky 'view my profile' and 'like-back' self-promoters.

The app’s CEO and co-founder Kevin Systrom released his own statement, taking responsibility for making Instagram a welcoming, safe space for people to be themselves without fear of bullying or harassment. He detailed: '[…] different types of people – from diverse backgrounds, races, genders, sexual orientations, abilities and more – call Instagram home, but sometimes the comments on their posts can be unkind. […] [W]e need to promote a culture where everyone feels safe to be themselves without criticism or harassment…' via the company’s own Instagram account.
