Idris Elba may have been dubbed "too street" to play James Bond by the book's author, but the internet clearly does NOT agree.
Fans have been campaigning for Idris to be the new Bond for ages now, and leaked Sony emails even suggested that movie bigwigs wanted Elba to step into Daniel Craig's shoes once he stops sipping martinis and being all moody and rugged.
We're still waiting to find out if Idris will be considered for the role, but in the meantime, US site Vulture created a video mock-up imagining what a trailer for Spectre would look like with Idris in the starring role.
We think he makes an EXCELLENT Bond (his line about cars made us LOL too) - but judge for yourself by watching the video below.
Earlier, we wrote...
Remember when James Bond author Anthony Horowitz called Idris Elba, who is often rumoured to star as 007 in the film franchise, "too street" to play the famous spy?
His comments were naturally met with an outcry, and his quickly apologized, saying he was "mortified" to have caused offence by the comments.
Well Idris seems to be taking the news in his stride, posting a status to Instagram suggesting he's not all that bothered by the drama surrounding him.
"Always Keep Smiling!! It takes no energy and never hurts! Learned that from the Street!! #septemberstillloveyou," he wrote, alongside a photo of him smiling against an article about Horowitz's comments.
The smooth response went down well with his followers, who all commented on how he would be the perfect James Bond.
We're keeping our fingers crossed that he does get the part once Daniel Craig hangs up his tight swimming trunks.
