Unless you’ve been living under a rock for a week, by now you’ve probably seen the ‘First Kiss’ viral video and the many parodies it’s spawned (we can highly recommend Vice’s brain-achingly awkward alternative version for the lols), but the latest offering is the first parody that tries to address homophobia.

On Saturday, the Gay Women Channeluploaded their take on the trend with a video titled First Gay Hug (A Homophobic Experiment). It’s been captioned with ‘First Kiss? We took it up a notch’ and the video makers claim they ‘asked homophobes to hug gay strangers for the first time’ with some pretty interesting consequences. Similarly to the original, the video shows the progression from completely awkward introductions to the two strangers hugging. Some of the alleged homophobes in the video warm to their gay hugging partners, while others prove to be difficult nuts to crack.

One lady tells a lesbian woman that she is ‘too pretty to be gay’, while another shows one man saying ‘you seem like a cool guy, I just – I think your whole sex thing is a little gross’. Nice.

It’s not clear if the video uses actors or not, but it’s already clocked up 145,000 views since it was released. Check it out below.
