You’ve probably seen the video of the homeless man from Majorca’s incredible makeover. If you haven’t here’s a little catch up…The video in question, posted by YouTube user Dr Filmgood, features a homesless man know as Jose Antonio. Jose supposedly lived on the Majorca streets for 25 years and spent his days making money by helping people park their cars by La Salvajeria, a hair and beauty salon. Once an electrician, Jose became homeless after he suffered from depression, and was unable to keep track of his own life. He never had any issues with drink or drugs, but expressed that he became ‘like a vegetable,’ after suffering from deep depression.
The video, filmed back in 2015 went crazy viral – for obvious reasons. Within the video, Jose gets a makeover by the team at La Salvajeria, including a haircut, and colour, beard trim – and he’s even given a suave new outfit. Watch below and see how amazing Jose looks.
But where is Jose now? This was over 18 months ago, and comments on the video are asking what happened to the homeless man after his makeover. Well, he’s no longer homeless for a start, isn’t that bloody great? He has also gone under medical treatment on his eyes, ears and feet and is currently looking for a job.
Jose, also known as Josete credits his new life to the salon, telling The Mail Online: ‘I doubt any of these changes would have ever happened if it wasn’t for the help of the people like the hair salon owner and the other locals who have assisted me to get back on my feet. It’s not just a change of looks, it’s changed my life.’
Before the video was made, Jose was living in an abandoned house with no water or cooking facilities. He had multiple health problems, and was virtually blind. Now he lives in a shared flat, where he is able to cook, wash and pay his rent by moving people’s cars in the town’s square – when his health improves he intends to look for another job.
Here’s to you Jose, we we’re rooting for you.
