This weekend, U.S. Presidential hopeful and Democrat candidate Hillary Clinton was filmed passing out during a 9/11 memorial service in New York. With temperatures soaring to close to 30 degrees Celsius, 68-year-old Clinton was forced to leave the ceremony early, having stood in the heat for hours. Later, her team confirmed that she had been diagnosed with pneumonia on Friday and had been working ever since.
The moment was soon seized upon by right-wing opportunists keen to accuse her of being ‘unfit’ for the presidency. After all, Republican candidate Donald Trump has been calling for her medical records to be released for weeks now, painting her as ‘too ill’ to hold the number one job.
Some sections of the US media have also spun the story to focus on her perceived poor health as a major indicator that she should drop out of the presidential race.
