**Alright, winning an Olympic medal is one thing, but what truly matters is how it can help you grow your social media following. Luckily, website Alphr have done all the hard work for us to find out just how those big wins raise your Twitter follower count.

The study shows some pretty interesting trends, including that Tom Daley won an extra 60,000 followers just for winning bronze. Some lesser known athletes even had a 700% boost in follower count! It also turned out that a gold medal would bag you on average 9196 new followers, silver 3593, and bronze 6230 - weirdly enough.

The author also figured out who was the most popular among their own peers on Twitter, with Jessica Ennis-Hill ranking first place, unsurprisingly.
