EXCLUSIVE: Henry Holland Reveals His Golden Globes Tips

Awards season kicks off this Sunday evening with the Golden Globes promising drama, tears, possibly a few tantrums as well as some seriously gorgeous gowns. If you’re watching the red carpet on E! you can follow all the action with designer Henry Holland who will be taking over the channel’s social media accounts to give his views on the winners (and the losers) in the sartorial stakes. Ahead of the ceremony we caught up with Henry to talk all things awards season…

**Grazia: ‘Hi Henry – are you looking forward to all the excitement on Sunday? **

Henry: Yes absolutely – I’ll be taking charge of E! to bring you my critique of all the fashion from the red carpet. I’ll also be asking E!’s followers their opinions on the looks too.

**G: Who are you most excited about seeing? **

H: I always look forward to seeing what the Girls, girls are wearing. They are young and they’ve all got really good personal style. I much prefer seeing someone new compared with someone who has been using the same team of stylists for 10 years. I’m also looking forward to seeing what the Downton Girls will be wearing. Hopefully some of the British girls will be wearing some British designers. Jennifer Lopez is always one to watch too – she’s always so desperate to show us she’s still young.

**G: What are your predictions for the red carpet this award’s season? **

H: It’s usually a colour thing, one year we saw a lot of white, then gold and last year there was a red thing going on. The Globes usually pre-empts what everyone will be wearing for the whole awards season.

G: What are you iconic awards looks?

H: For me it’s got to be Gwyneth Paltrow’s Ralph Lauren look the year that she won her Oscar. The spaghetti straps – it was mega. I also think of Halle Berry in the sheer Ellie Saab number with floral embellishment. I also think that Cate Blanchet is great too, she’s worn a lot of Givenchy couture.

G: Jennifer Aniston is nominated for a Globe but tends to play it safe on the red carpet – what are you hoping she’ll be wearing?

H: I hope she’ll mix it up because playing it safe equals forgettable. I hope she finds the balance between making a statement and not going too far. I’d like to see her steer away from something sleeveless and form fitting. I hope she breaks away from her usual formula.

G: What do you think makes a biggest red carpet fashion faux pas?

H: I think wearing you clothes back to front a la Celine Dion, Bjork is pretty bad and anything that you don’t feel comfortable in – it’s all about exuding confidence.

G: What British designers would you like to see being worn on Sunday?

H: Erdem, Christopher Kane and Roland Mouret basically my friends.

**

**G: And what about accessories – the more the merrier? **

H: If it was me I would want the biggest diamond I could find and a team of five security guards – when else can you pull that off.

**

G: How would you describe your own style?

H: Schizophrenic.

**

G: Do you friends help you get dressed?

H: No but they do laugh at me when they don’t like what they are wearing!
