Writing about Harry Potter all day long for an actual living? No, not many of us can be J.K. Rowling (there is only one).
But you CAN go and write for Pottermore, the official Harry Potter-themed website that takes the stories beyond the books on your shelf and makes them all digital and interactive and stuff. Which is just so down with the kids.
An advert appeared on journalism jobs website Gorkana looking for: ‘freelance writers with an eye for a good story, a passion for in-depth analysis and research, as well as strong working knowledge of the Harry Potter stories’.
So you’ve got to be both a HP fan – and a good writer to get the job.
The ad describes Pottermore as ‘the digital heart of J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World… cover[ing] everthing from the latest news across the brand, to in-depth features on existing canon and characters.’
It’s basically the biggest no-brainer ever if you’re into Harry Potter and also like writing.
The website intermittantly looks for new staff – and was hiring for writers until today, when the ad shut (the roles were initially advertised until open until September, but the advert has now disappeared – presumably due to ridiculously high demand).
Pottermore’s certainly a company worth keeping an eye on if you want to write about all things Harry Potter.
Which goes to show that your careers advice tutor WAS right when they told you to keep scouring jobs websites every darn day in case you miss something brilliant.
