You really couldn’t make it up. Just days after telling her Twitter followers she was undertaking a food bank challenge – attempting to live on $29 worth of food for seven days – Gwyneth Paltrow enjoyed a pricey $80-a-head meal. She really is the queen of irony isn't she?

Gwynnie –who, let’s not forget, once recommended vaginal steaming at $50 a pop or a Christmas gift guide that cost a whopping $107,309 – agreed to the challenge to live as if she was on food stamps.

She told her followers: 'We're walking in their shoes to see how far we get. I nominate @RidingShotgunLA to do #FoodBankNYCChallenge & donate.' In true GP form, her ‘staple’ breadline ingredients included kale, black beans and seven limes. No processed meat or cheap bread in sight.

Gwyneth uploaded a picture of her weekly shop and wrote: ‘This is what $29 gets you at the grocery store—what families on SNAP (i.e. food stamps) have to live on for a week.’

But just days after uploading the snap Gwyneth attended a lavish dinner at restaurant Animal with her new beau Brad Falchuk. Actor Jon Favreau uploaded a snap of the pair from the event on Tuesday. So has someone been cheating?

Apparently not. A rep for Gwyneth has claimed she actually started the challenge on April 3, meaning she finished last week before the dinner at Animal. Which is good news seeing as she was out partying with VB and co last night too.
