We can’t think of any context where it would be OK for a man to drug a woman, but there’s something next-level creepy about the story of the German bloke who slipped his girlfriend sleeping drugs, so he could play video games.
Last August, the 24-year-old woman got home from work late at 10pm, while her boyfriend, 23, was busy playing video games with his mate. She’d been working for 10 hours and wanted a bit of peace and quiet.
But he didn’t want to have to give up his game. So the guy gave his girlfriend – now his ex-girlfriend, obvs – some tea laced with a sedative. She ended up sleeping until noon the next day. And on the way in to work, she still wasn’t back to normal.
‘Then I drove to work although I was nodding off again and again,’ she said at her ex’s court hearing in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
He later admitted to drugging her and they broke up (thank God; this guy deserves no girlfriends).
Drug testing done on the woman’s hair (did you know your hair is like a living timeline of all the toxins you’ve ever ingested?) showed that the woman had only ever had sedatives in her body once and that it was at the time she reported feeling extra dozy, reports Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung.
The man was sentenced to pay a €500 fine for ‘premeditated bodily harm’, and was presumably let off because he didn’t cause long-term damage to the woman.
Hopefully, though, the tale will make him take a long hard look at himself and the lengths he’ll go to to play a bunch of video games.
