Gurls Talk is an inspiring online community that promotes female empowerment by offering girls a safe space to discuss their personal experiences and encourages them to raise their voices. The virtual platform was founded by activist and model Adwoah Aboah, and this weekend you can meet her and other inspirational women as they bring Gurls Talk to life.
On Saturday 1 July, Gurls Talk is teaming up with New York design house Coach as well as Dazed to host a day-long festival in London to celebrate and discuss what it means to be a girl in the 21st century. The one-day event will offer talks, workshops and pop-ups, and is completely free.
There will be a Q&A with the founder herself, Adwoa, followed by talks from speakers including actress, activist and model Hari Nef, feminist columnist Laurie Penny, intersex advocate and model Hanne Gaby Odiele, US Vogue contributor and relationship expert Karley Sciortino and Professor KM Abel.
As well as the panels there will be workshops including a movement workshop hosted by British choreographer Wayne McGregor and a healing workshop hosted by Dr. Lauren Hazzouri. There will also be a pop-up Claire De Rouen library, a Coach ‘Dream Station’, a photo studio and more.
The event is being held at 180 Strand, London WC2R 1EA, from 12pm – 6pm. To attend, you must RSVP to rsvp@gurlstalk.com. Remember to tag your Instagram pictures with #CoachGurls. See you there, girls!
