We don't know about you, but a special place in our heart will always be devoted to grilled cheese.

This gooey, moreish goodness is soup for the soul: it's comforting, uplifting and never fails to deliver.

Thankfully, the folks behind Morty & Bob's agree.

This start-up of dreams began life as a street food stall devoted to grilled cheese sandwiches; the more sophisticated sister of cheese toasties.

It found a permanent base in east London in 2015, and - in news that is music to our ears - has just launched a pop-up on the rooftop of John Lewis' flagship Oxford Street store.

Morty & Bob's has taken over the space at the Gardening Society Roof Garden, meaning weary shoppers can pop by for a fix of brunch delights such as the M&B Classic and Nduja Salami & Three Cheese - made from a tangy and irresistible blend of Lancashire Poacher, Cheddar Curd and Montgomery Cheddar.

As if that wasn't enough, there's a clutch of side treats to order alongside the main cheesy deal, including rosemary salt fries and parmesan truffle fries.

And non-cheese dishes such as sourdough with devon crab and pollack fish finger in a brioche roll are also on the menu.

Where do we join the queue?

Charlie Phillips is the man behind Morty & Bob's, named after his two grandads.

His research stage of the company sounds like the Best Work Day Ever.

"We went through quite an extensive cheese search and we went through loads of days at Neal's Yard Dairy trying bits and bobs," says Charlie. "It took us a few weeks and about 30 or 40 sandwiches to get it right because when you start to melt cheese, the consistency changes and the flavour changes, but finally we settled on our three-cheese mix."

We can't wait to hit up the rooftop this summer. Bring on the cheese-based fabulousness.
