Greggs. A true icon of every British high street. Somewhere you can always go if you ever need some reasonably priced baked goods. A place where students, workers and the elderly can all unite over their love of steak bakes.
And now, at the Irlam Gateway Service Station in Salford, a place where you can purchase all of the sausage rolls that you desire without ever having to leave your car.
The first and only drive-thru Greggs has opened up in Greater Manchester this week, providing peckish drivers with pastries from 6AM to 9PM Monday to Friday, 7AM to 7PM on Saturday and 8AM to 6PM on a Sunday.
Roger Whiteside, Chief Executive for Greggs, has said ‘When it comes to food-on-the-go, our customers tell us that convenience is key. We’ve been working hard to take industrial estates, retail parks and travel hubs.’
He added, ‘a drive through offers the ultimate convenience and seemed the logical next step for us to take. This is a first for Greggs and we are excited to trial the concept in Irlam, Manchester.’
The news of this drive-thru comes shortly after Greggs delivery started trialling in two stores in Manchester, along with stores in London and Newcastle also testing this service via the Greggs Delivered website.
If you want to place an order via the website you’ll need to spend at least £20 and live within a 0.4-mile radius of a participating store. All deliveries need to be paid for using a credit or debit card and orders should be placed before 5PM for next day delivery.
So, however you may feel about world politics and current affairs in 2017, just know that we are living in the golden age of Greggs and that it’s now easier than ever to purchase a doughnut.
