The world famous festival has been held at Worthy Farm in Somerset since its inception in 1979, but things could be moving on for Glastonbury according to organiser Michael Eavis.

In an interview with ITV news, Eavis said that organisers were in talks with the Longleat estate after the prospect of continuing to host the festival in its current location had become ‘very, very complicated’.

The Eavis family own only part of the current site, which doesn’t include the location and surroundings of the Pyramid Stage. As well as the controversy caused by leaking sewage at the 2014 festival, the Mendip Council voiced concerns about a gas line that runs across the site.

Speaking in Dublin in November, Eavis said 'We're supposed to stop people dancing on it, which is a pretty impossible thing to do. [the council] say that if they are all dancing on the pipe at the same time they could fracture it.'

The 9,000 acre Longleat estate is located in Wiltshire, 20 miles away from the current Glasto site, and is currently plays host to a Center Parcs as well as the well-known zoo, country house and grounds that are partially open to the public. It is home to the 83 year old Marquess of Bath and his several girlfriends who he refers to as ‘wifelets’.

Eavis told ITV: 'We're talking to Longleat every day, actually, so I hope we can come to an agreement with them eventually. But we haven't done so yet. But they're quite keen. I want to move there in 2019 basically.'

Where the lions and giraffes will go during the festivities is another story, but I’m not sure they’re big fans of loud music and drunk people. A bit like Mendip Council really.
