Online dating is tough enough as it is. From dick pics to weirdos, people misselling themselves to awful, terrible chat, Tinder, and other similar apps are somethng we all wish we didn't have to do.

Imagine then, trying to get back into the dating game via Tinder after losing a leg. Vicky Balch, a dancer who lost her leg in the Smiler crash at Alton Towers last summer has been doing just that.

Vicky was just 19 last summer when a rollercoaster car she was travelling in collided with an empty car. Vicky was one of two girls that had to have parts of their legs amputated. 16 people overall were injured, five of them seriously. The ride reopened last month, just nine months after the accident. Vicky said at the time 'I understand it's a business and it's what they have to do. I just didn't think it'd be so soon. It's only nine months, it's not a very long time.'

Now, Vicky has opened up about dating after her accident. Speaking to New Day, the teenager spoke about why she decided to try the dating app,' 'My last boyfriend had fallen for me before the accident and I wanted to see if someone would accept me as myself now.'

It's not all been great though, Vicky's had her fair share of Tinder oddballs contacting her. ‘One man said to me, “I’ve always wanted to have sex with a person with one leg”. I thought, “er, I don’t think so”.’

Luckily, it wasn't long before she matched with a guy called Jordan, 24, who seems like a nice chap. ‘Before he asked me out, he said he would speak to [my mum] on the phone, but she said that if I’m happy, she’s happy.’

Her mum had to help her out in the first date though, ‘My mum dropped me off and picked me up, as I am not driving.'

Fingers crossed for Vicky and Jordan.
