So we’ve all heard horror stories of London renting. Tales of people being shown places with no windows and ‘studio flats’ that are actually a fold-down bed with a toilet, have been doing the rounds on social media for a while now.
But this latest one is really crossing the ‘is this real life?’ line.
Twitter user Alex Lomax has shared images of a mattress in an under-stair-cupboard in Clapham, that was being shown to her with a price tag of £500 a month. Because it's London.
In an accompanying caption to the soul-destroying pictures, she wrote: "I have literally just been shown a bed under the stairs for £500 a month. F you London! #nothanks #privetdrive!?"
Thankfully, Alex seems to have said ‘thanks but no thanks’ to the ridiculous living arrangement. But judging by the crumpled up duvet and squashed-in belongings in the pictures, this cupboard nightmare is very much a reality for someone.
£500 a month for a mattress under the stairs. Just let that sink in. At least Harry Potter got to live in his cupboard for free.
When will the madness end?
