He turned 54 on Wednesday but George Clooney has set the record straight on his rumoured birthday gifts from wife Amal.

Reports that George had received a pricey Porsche 911 GT3 RS and a state-of-the-art blender turned out to be false, who’d have thought?

'Didn't get a blender, didn't get a Porsche' George said. ‘What the heck?' he added.

Ever the gentleman when George asked what Amal, 37, had got him he would only say: 'Ummmm, I can't tell you.’ Swoon.

We’re sure Amal’s impeccable taste saw him receive something tres chic. The pair were a beautiful sight on the Met Ball red carpet with George later gushing about his hot shot lawyer lady saying: ‘She's an amazing human being. And, she's caring. And, she also happens to be one of the smartest people I've ever met. And, she's got a great sense of humour.’

Good to hear that even as a wife of a Hollywood A-lister Amal has had to put up with her husband's sports mad agenda, just like the rest of us.

'I hate to say it, because it kills her, but it's ESPN,' he said of his favourite show.. 'I watch sports.

'She goes ''Every weekend we're watching a sporting event?'' And I was like, ''Actually, that's kind of how it works.”

Amal was dragged to the recent March Madness college basketball tournament where George rooted for the Kentucky to win admitting: 'She got into that, but it was enough.’ The following weekend he watched The Masters golf. Amal, you have our sympathy.

George’s currently promoting new Disney film* Tomorrowland* - co-written, co-produced and directed by 57-year-old Brad Bird whose brilliant work includes Ratatouille, The Simpsons and The Incredibles. We salute you Mr Bird.

'Brad and I have been trying to do a film together for a few years,’ George said. ‘He hasn't made a bad film.’

Tomorrowland starring Britt Robertson and Hugh Laurie will be released on May 22 and George himself will grace our shores next week to help promote it.

We are totally ready to George stalk...and happy to talk about sport at that.
