Art is in the eye of the beholder. It’s also in the houses of the very wealthy people who can afford to buy daubed-on canvases that artists, art collectors, dealers and, well, hype, have colluded to decree are really worth millions of pounds.

It’s also in galleries, until a bunch of protestors come along and demand that it be removed. That’s what a group known as Renoir Sucks At Painting have been doing.

The activists, united behind an Instagram account called Renoir_sucks_at_painting (followed by almost 7,000 people) feel that ‘cultural justice’ will only be done when Pierre-Auguste Renoir’s works are removed from the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) in Boston.

When asked why he thinks Renoir sucks, Max Geller, leader of the group, told The Guardian: ‘Why do so many people think he’s good? Have you looked at his paintings?’
