Let’s be honest. When we think about McDonalds, something that definitely does not come to mind is pastries, a salad bar or somewhere to charge your phone. But that’s exactly what could be on the agenda in years to come.
It’s been reported that our drunken go-to fast food chain opened a ‘concept store’ in Hong Kong called ‘McDonalds Next’, to give us a glimpse of what McDonalds might be like in the future, and it’s a far cry away from where we’re currently purchasing our 99p cheese burgers.
All day breakfasts and a premium burger range have both been in the pipeline since earlier reports that MaccyDs had been trying to survive on boozed-up customers alone.
The Mirror reported that the latest in this line of redevelopment, is a completely new décor, posh Byron style burgers, phone chargers, a water fountain, fancy pastries and a salad bar.
Now, I don’t know about you, but I have never met anyone who has intentionally chosen to go to McDonalds for a salad or baked good, but phone chargers and a water fountain would definitely be hailed as the saviour to all nights out.
Before you get too excited, the slick new store appears to be just an experiment at the moment, and we probably won’t be eating our McNugs from stainless steel tables under ‘subtle lighting’ with a side salad any time soon, but we’re pretty damn curious.
We can only hope that one day they’ll trial one of these fancy new sites at the service station off the M4.
