Donald ‘Chip’ Pugh may be on the run from the police, but it’s still no excuse for having a bad social-media game. There’s nothing worse than having a below-par photo of you surface on Facebook, and the 45-year-old man found out the hard way when the Lima Police Department in Ohio started circulating his unflattering mug shot.
With the photo too viral for the classic ‘remove tag’ reaction, Chip took it into his own hands to save his online dignity and PM’d the police with a selfie to replace the tasteless mug shot.
‘Here is a better photo of me, that one is terrible,’ messaged Pugh, alongside the pic which shows him posing in his aviator shades inside a flashy car.
At least his pursuers can relax in the knowledge that he may be on the run, but at least he’s ridin’ in style.
Pugh’s plan worked like a dream and the police immediately shared the new selfie on Facebook. ‘This photo was sent to us by Mr Pugh himself,’ they wrote. ‘We thank him for being helpful, but now we would appreciate it if he would come speak to us at the LPD about his charges.’
The image-conscious convict managed to take a break from his hectic life of fleeing the police and taking great selfies to talk to Ohio radio station 104.9 The Eagle.
‘Man, they just did me wrong,’ he claims. ‘They put a picture out that made me look like I was a Thundercat ... or James Brown on the run. I can’t do that.’
Pugh, who’s wanted for his failure to appear in court, is ironically now succeeding to appear all over the internet. The viral snap has even sparked the creation of a whole lotta hilarious memes.
Lima News has reported that Pugh has no plans to turn himself in. Police hope that the circulation of Pugh’s snap will help them to track him down, but we’ve got a sneaky feeling that the general public would rather get a joint selfie with the fugitive than turn him in.
