Whether or not you're a fan of Frozen, and it's extremely catchy theme tune, you can't disagree with the praise heaped on the Disney film for having two strong female leads. And y'know, focusing on a relationship between two sisters rather than princesses being rescued by men.

Well it sounds like Frozen 2, which was announced in March, will continue that theme. The film's directors, Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, told MTV News that the sequel will bring home some important messages - and be totally kick-ass at the same time.

"We have two very strong female leads in Frozen," Buck said. "We will keep that going in the next one. We will tackle other issues that, I think, are out there today that boys and girls, men and women, are dealing with."

He added: "I think we're very aware of what is happening in society...I don't think any of us take [them] lightly, even though they can be very funny and entertaining, the messages that our movies have and the influence they can have on young people."

"When the kids [watch] them, they watch them over and over again, and if we don't have a decent message in there, I think we've missed an opportunity."

Chris Buck also revealed a crazy fan theory about Frozen. He said that Anna and Elsa's parents never died - they were in a shipwreck on an island instead - and had a baby boy - Tarzan!

He told MTV:

"Of course Anna and Elsa’s parents didn’t die. Yes, there was a shipwreck, but they were at sea a little bit longer than we think they were because the mother was pregnant, and she gave birth on the boat, to a little boy. They get shipwrecked, and somehow they really washed way far away from the Scandinavian waters, and they end up in the jungle. They end up building a tree house and a leopard kills them, so their baby boy is raised by gorillas.”

He added: "I say, whatever people want to belive, go for it. If you want to tie them all together, then do it".

Blimey!
