The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is about to get flipped-turned upside down as Will Smith's production company is reportedly planning a modern reboot of the cult series.
According to TV Line Will's company Overbrook Entertainment is in the "early stages of developing a present-day family comedy that puts a new spin on the fish-out-of-water tale while maintaining the spirit of Fresh Prince."
Will is said to be planning to executive produce the show with his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith and their Overbrook partners James Lassiter and Caleeb Pinkett.
A pitch is reportedly being finalised for a spin on the story with a 21st century family. And while there's no news of which network would air the show as yet, NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt has suggested he would be keen to get involved with the project, saying he would “be happy to talk to Will about it.”
Given Will's kids acting and music credentials we wonder if he'll be tempted to keep the casting in the family - Willow as Tatanya and Jayden as the new Will (Jr) anyone?
Fresh Prince ran for six series between 1990-1996, launching Will's acting career. It also gave us one of the catchiest theme tunes* ever, *co-written by the actor himself with Quincy Jones.
It's not just The Fresh Prince getting an up-to-date makeover, Overbrook is giving another Will Smith classic the reboot treatment, working with Fox on a TV version of rom-com, Hitch.

So close and so alike everyone swore they were sisters, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie were the queens of reality television way back when the Kardashians were a blink in the E! Channel's eye. Slightly ridiculous but always entertaining, the show launched the pair, as well as Paris' catchphrase 'that's hot', into the stratosphere.

While Paris perfectly fulfilled the role of the bubbly socialite, we always had high hopes for Nicole, with her wicked sense of humour. Nicole now has two children with Joel Madden and two fashion lines, House of Harlow 1960 and Winter Kate.

Since her rise to fame, Paris has been criticised by the media for being famous without any talent or handwork, much like ex-best friend Kim Kardashian. But she can currently claim to be a singer, one of the world's highest paid DJ's, and a true pioneer of reality TV.
The O.C.
We fancied Ryan, we wanted to be Marissa, we rooted for Seth and we loved Summer. These four, along with their friends and parents, taught us that life in society's upper echelons wasn't all it's cracked up to be. We laughed and cried alongside them all the way through our teenage years. The show was as close to perfect as a teen series could get, and who could forget the image of Ryan carrying Marissa away from a burning car?
