The last weekend before payday is approaching, so you’re broke. I’m broke. We’re all broke. Thankfully, here are five things that will brighten your mood and ensure you don’t set about destroying a cash machine with your bare hands because it won’t give you money.

First up:

Watch this video of a woman destroying a cash machine with her bare hands because it won’t give her money

We’ve all fantasised about it, but very few have gone as far as this woman in China. Caught on CCTV camera giving this ATM merry hell, her actions are both mesmerising and really, really satisfying. The furthest I’ve ever gone is thumping the wall next to a cash machine and saying ‘motherfucker’.

Find some budget recipes

Google around and find some nice meals to make for next to no money because it’s good to know that you will survive and as long as you know how to cook, you might just stay alive. It beats sitting alone in your room, eating boiled rice out of the pan. First off, probably go and get a plate. It doesn’t cost money to walk to the kitchen and get a plate from the cupboard, does it.

Know in your heart that money will never make you cool

Ebay some shit

Not actual shit, but things you have in your house that you’ll never use. That lilac pleather jacket you thought you could pull off but can’t. An unopened scented candle you suspect was quite expensive. Vintage copies of Empire magazine that some collector will crap themselves over. A mug. Look, I’m running out of ideas here, but I do know that I sold a lipgloss for £6 the other day and it helped me eat for a day. Plus, it’s something to do other than ‘be really poor’, innit?
