She’s just been nominated for an Academy Award for her flawless portrayal of Jane Hawking in The Theory of Everything (adding to the long list of Brit actors in the running for an Oscar) but who exactly is Felicity Jones? Here’s everything you need to know about the 31-year-old...

1) She’s super intelligent

Birmingham-born Felicity read English at Wadham College, Oxford and gained a upper second degree. (2.1 – to non-Oxbridge folk)

2) You may remember her from Chalet Girl

The British actress starred alongside Ed Westwick in the 2011 romcom - it might not have received critical acclaim but we were big fans. (In case that counts).

3) Big on the small screen

Felicity began her career on TV as a teenage and has starred in The Worst Witch, Servants, Doctor Who and she even appeared in an episode of Girls last year.

4) She’s bagged big fashion campaigns

In 2011 Felicity was announced as the new fact of Burberry and also landed a Dolce & Gabbana campaign in the same year. Her red carpet style has also received high praise from ciritcs. We loved her Golden Globes look.

5) Her longest running role was on radio

Radio 4 listeners might recognise Felicity’s voice – she portrayed teen tearaway Emma Grundy on The Archers for a decade. (Maybe ask your mum, but trust us it's a big deal)

6) Film friends

She's mates with Keira Knightley and Carey Mulligan, sure.

7) Snow Way

She turned down the role of Snow White in the 2012 film Mirror Mirror (It later went to Lily Collins).

8) Stephen Hawking asked her for a kiss

While filming The Theory of Everything Felicity, who has been single since splitting with boyfriend of 10 years Ed Fornieles last year, revealed that she found herself flirting with Stephen Hawking on set. In an interview in September she said: "He [Stephen] watched about an hour of filming and we were waiting to see what he thought when he wrote a note saying: "Would you ask Felicity if she will come and give me a kiss?" It shows his rather flirtatious nature and this amazing capacity he has to not take himself too seriously. I embraced him and told him, "You’re amazing!"'

9) Award-winning

She might be in the running for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress but Felicity is no stranger to scooping a gong. In 2011 she won an award at the Sundance Film Festival for her performance in the low budget film Like Crazy. She even did her own hair and make-up while shooting the flick.
