Things To Do On Father’s Day (Since We Probably Won’t Get Round To Buying That Gift)

Fathers Day Things To Do

Published on

It's Father's Day on 19th June and you know what? Realistically, we're not going to get our dads anything. Nope, nothing at all.

Sounds a bit stingy doesn't it? And mighty selfish too. But it's true. In fact, if we put a card in the post, we'll think we've made, like, SOOOO much effort.

However...

What we are going to do instead, is something with our Dads.

Like where we're going with this?

If so, check out our super fun, super cool, super Dad-worthy things to do on Father's Day over the UK – if you, like us, know you'll never get round to personalising that beer mug...

Go to Taste of London

Ok, we know it'll be crowded. But your Dad's worth facing the masses for, right? Plus it involves A LOT of food and A LOT to drink. Which we're pretty certain he'll like – A LOT.

Highlights this year include Monica Galetti's live cooking demonstration, the gin bar and masterclass of Mr Fogg's Safari Camp, and pop-ups from the likes of Mr Todiwala's Kitchen (think Goan shrimp curry with organic goa rice), Theo Randall at The InterContinental (chargrilled fennel sausage with orzo and basil salad), SUSHISAMBA (drool over kobe bacon nigiri) and the 'Sloppy Joe' beef ragout in a brioche bun, courtesy of Duck & Waffle.

When: Weds 15th – Sun 19th June

Where: Regents Park, London

Go Climbing

Is your Dad fit and active? Think he might like a spot of rock climbing? Why not get him to join you on the National Trust's Outdoor Climbing 3-hour Adventure at Crag Lough?

It includes an introduction to movement skills, belaying and climbing calls, bouldering and also... learning how to tie a figure of eight knot, which is frankly knowledge we could do with... when we're setting up that tent at Glastonbury.

When: 25th June

Where: Hadrian's Wall and Housesteads Fort, Northumberland

Go Golfing In Dublin

You don't have to do it, but it might be nice to accompany your Dad whilst he does it. Portmarnock Golf Club in Dublin was voted the best golf course in Ireland in 2004, and is open to both members and non-members. Visitors have to have a certified handicap – but we're pretty certain your Dad has one of those already. If not, erm, you can enjoy the views...

Where: Portmarnock Golf Club, Golf Links Road, Portmarnock, Dublin

Have A Butchery Class At The Ginger Pig

Because Dads love to think they know everything about butchery (when we all know they might – just might – benefit from a little professional help...)
