Ever get REALLY annoyed at the person trudging impossibly slowly in front of you while you're trying to get somewhere fast? OK so maybe you're not the most important person on Oxford Street and your rage blackout could be a bit of an extreme reaction, but slow walkers can be a right pain in the proverbial.

Which is why the news that Liverpool has introduced fast-walking lanes for stressed out shoppers has filled us with joy.

The St Johns street area of the city has opened a fast pedestrian lane, following research that claims 47% of the nation finds slow walking the most annoying aspect of high-street shopping. The fast lanes, marked out in red, will presumably allow shoppers to speed through the crowds, reports The Independent.

But before you praise the city from taking such a noble initiative and hope the same idea will be rolled out across the land, it's actually a bit of a PR stunt to tie in with high street store Argos, who published the survey.

The poll also revealed shoppers hate battling through crowds, people chatting in the middle of the street and pavement hoggers. Which will surprise no-one who shops on the regular.
