It’s called Socialblade because we imagine it’s the knife that stabs influencers in the back. Sorry for the brutal imagery, but that is just how ruthless this website is.

If you’ve ever wondered how many bots are lurking in an influencer’s following this website claims it’s able to separate the real from the fake and uncover who is falsifying their fanbase.

SocialBlade says it ‘tracks user statistics’ to give a ‘deeper understanding of user growth and trends’ across Youtube, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and Twitch. In other words, its a whizzy tall for marketing execs. But, for us, who are just plain nosy it's a way of deep diving into the analytics of our influencers and celebrities.

Simply, type a name or handle, say Justin Bieber or Priyanka Chopra Jonas for instance, into the search and watch as the results trickle in. While we can’t verify any of the information and have no way of knowing how authentic Socialblade’s data is, we’ve already fallen down a rabbit hole of curiosity and spent the last hour searching the names of everyone we know to see who has and who hasn’t bought followers. If we’re to believe their stats are correct, one way to know if an influencer is faking their influence is to check their User Summary and watch for any surges or drops in followers. Anything above gaining a few hundred followers in a day is a little fishy. If there is a huge fall in numbers (several hundred or more) it might indicate that all the bots they paid to follow them have been eradicated by Instagram.

Excuse us while we spend the rest of our day stalking the data..
