Our news feeds are constantly saturated with news, statuses, videos, just stuff in general. It gets messy, it gets a bit overwhelming, and it gets addictive to scroll scroll scroll out way through half pointless, half informative information about hot topics. But half of that IS pointless, and half we all wish we could hide from our already cluttered news feed. So thank you very much to Facebook, for introducing their new function. A news feed that works like their rival social company, Twitter.
The new function means when you post to Facebook, you now have the option to just post to your News Feed, meaning it won’t show up on your page. Think of it as a continuous Facebook feed of content that is pushed down quicker than an average post. Your content won’t just vanish, but if people want to actively find it they’ll have to search for the link.
It’s currently only available to a portion of users, which is why when I spent four minutes trying to work out how to use it, I failed. If it does get the go-ahead, it will appear as a ‘hide from timeline’ box next to the ‘post’ button where you schedule your content. We'll take that, if it means we can hide the pointless half of stuff currently residing our our Facebook feed.
