Is it just me or are we currently in sensory overload x10000? Between constant badgering from our phones telling us we’ve got WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and etc notifications, to “OMG I wanna watch that!” shows on Netflix (and the inevitable binge), to live streaming on Snapchat, the millions of blogs and vlogs to keep up with (and each of their 100s of recommendations of books to read, movies to watch, restaurants to try and etc), it seems like we’re in a constant state of information overload and I for one simply cannot deal with any more options… PLEASE.
Thing is, as it stands, there will never, ever be enough time in our lives for us to read all the books we want, watch all the TV shows we want, do all the things we want to do. We already know that. It is the curse of the millennial and forgive us our first world problems but with all the real life problems we have (case in point: Brexit, the fact that we’re basically never going to be able to afford our own homes and etc,) a little bit of FOMO is the least of our probs, tbh.
AS IF we needed any more options, it’s been reported that as part of their plan for world domination, Facebook will broadcast their own original TV shows and series by the end of the summer.
According to reports, they’re currently in talks with Hollywood studios and have a budget of up to $3m per episode. They’ve reportedly already lined up ‘Strangers', a relationship drama and a game show called 'Last State Standing’. Reports suggest they may also be resuscitating cancelled MTV show ‘Loosely Exactly Nicole’, a scripted comedy based on the life of comedian Nicole Byer.
Nick Grudin, vice president for partnerships at Facebook confirmed the reports saying: 'Our goal is to make Facebook a place where people can come together around video. To help get there, we're supporting a small group of partners and creators as they experiment with the kinds of shows you can build a community around -- from sports to comedy to reality to gaming.'
Race you to the bottom of our never-ending lists of things to see / eat / watch / do and be? sobs
