Facebook Launches A New App You'll Definitely Be Using

In its ongoing quest to take over every aspect of your life, Facebook has launched a news app that you can curate and scroll through. Sort of like your own News Feed but without people telling you they just bought a cat.

Around 70 organisations, including CNN and The Washington Post, are included, meaning you can get breaking news a bit like Twitter Moments or Feedly (they’ll be shaking in their cyber boots right about now).

Facebook published a blog post on the new app, called Notify, to explain a little further. ‘Everyone has different interests, so whether you’re into sports, celebrities, news, movies, music or shopping, Notify makes it easy to find notifications you’re into with a broad selection of great ‘stations’ across a variety of categories,’ it said.

‘To create your personal mix of notifications you select the stations from which you want to receive updates. Sources like the ones above will publish notifications through these stations when there are relevant updates. Notify also provides station suggestions based on your Facebook profile, and it’s easy to discover and add new stations any time.’

Sounds pretty fly. Some of these stations you can have on your feed include Getty, that provide a cool photo from this day in history, and also getting daily updates from *Vogue *or The Weather Channel. Notifications go straight to your lock screen, allowing you to swipe to see the whole thing, or dismiss.

Download it here and get more info on the Notify website. It’ll be interesting to see if this is informative, or just plain annoying. We wonder whether we really need more notifications on our phones...
