In the next 24 hours, we will have a new US President after one of the most controversial campaigns in history between democratic hopeful Hillary Clinton and republican representative Donald Trump.
And what a race it’s been! There has been plenty of mud-slinging on both sides, from Trump’s continued attacks on Clinton’s ‘honesty’ and ‘openness’ in the face of the latest FBI email server scandal, to his own damning remarks about ‘grabbing women by the pussy’, leaked earlier last month.
To capture this unique moment in world history, artist Paula Zuccotti has created a new series of photographs pitting the two candidates against each other, using everyday objects related to their campaigns. From the polarising slogans and viewpoints, the viral memes and Tweets, the accusations and the leaks, to the celebrity fans.
On the Hillary side, there’s her power suits, Beyoncé slogan tees and Bill Clinton paraphernalia, while on Donald’s, there’s a ‘Miss USA’ sash, a rifle and bricks to build a wall, all of which of course relate to some part of the campaign.
Zuccotti’s work has been featured in Grazia before; she is known for her practice of travelling the world and asking people to collect all the objects that they have touched in one day before shooting them to create a moving photo diary of their lives.
