Some Labour representatives aren’t quite getting the message Jeremy Corbyn has set by making his new(est) shadow cabinet the most diverse ever.
Take, for instance, Burnley councillor Dan Fleming, who is a member of Plenty of Fish, and has a very thorough profile listing, on his cons, well, a lot of cons, which of course has gone viral.
Here’s one: ‘Slim (no excuse ladies, at our age, we should be in our prime). I may budge if you're really pretty and willing to let me whip you into shape by sharing my athletic lifestyle.
‘Size 12+ is not for me. You may be average in the UK, but just because lots of women are overweight, doesn’t make it right’
Another? That he would not date mothers unless the child’s father was dead. Well, maybe he only wants really utterly heartbroken women, and not just ones who’ve only been abandoned by their child(ren)'s fathers!
One more? Dan insists that the woman for him must have good banter and so be able to discuss: ‘topics other than reality TV, soaps, clothes make-up or other female apparel’
Of course, tattoos put Dan off, too! He says that, ‘all tattood women can do one. disgusting!’ And, another stipulation on the list: that his potential suitor must be ‘Roman Catholic (I may budge on that, but our kids would be going to the Catholic school, end of discussion!) or at least hold similar values, such as kindness and family values’.
The 29-year-old confirmed to the _The Time_s that his profile on Plenty of Fish hasn’t been that successful, and that he’s been single for two years: ‘It probably is a bit extreme but it’s all light-hearted’. Sure, that’s why he brings up the prospective schooling of his un-conceived children.
He added: ‘I’ve been speaking to a few women about my profile and some have been a bit offended. One asked if I was deliberately trolling women, which I’m not.’
If we may counter, it sounds like the biggest person Dan is trolling is himself; he’s clearly taken a long time to write a profile that goes so harshly against his values of ‘kindness’. A profile which he opens with: ‘I don’t use POF [that's cool person slang for Plenty of Fish] very often, I very rarely send the first message and I’m content being single.’
If Dan really doesn’t want a date, he’s done a great job of it. But why go to all that effort?
