Reporter Asks Liz Kendall How Much She Weighs, Liz Tells Him To F**k Off

As it’s Monday, we’re terribly sorry that we’re already bringing you your FFS News Story Of The Week, but if people will do douchebag things, people will do douchebag things any day of the week.

In the Mail On Sunday yesterday, reporter Simon Walters' interview with potential new leader of the Labour Party Liz Kendall was published. In it, he asked her what she thought would happen if rival Jeremy Corbyn won the Labour leadership, what her thoughts on Ed versus David Miliband were and, most crucially, how much she weighs. Wait what? Yes. Yes that actually happened. Here’s how it played out:

‘Kendall maintains her lithe figure by jogging 20 miles a week.’ Walters writes. ‘On Saturday nights she loves to dance to rap music at discos with friends. When I arrived for the interview she was still getting ready: “Hold on, just putting on some lippy.” She is wearing emerald green suede high heels from LK Bennett. I ask how much they cost. ‘About £100, I think.’ The LK Bennett website says they are £195. Her jacket, navy blue “vest” and trousers are from Reiss. LK Bennett and Reiss are two of the Duchess of Cambridge’s favourite fashion brands – and slinky brunette Liz, or Elizabeth Louise, to give her full Royal-sounding Christian names, looks as good in them as slinky brunette Kate. In fact she looks the same weight as the Duchess – about 8st – though when I ask she slaps me down with a raucous “f*** off!”, adding quickly, “Don’t print that.”’

For starters Simon, MATE, when was the last time you asked Jeremy Corbyn where he got his shirt from? And, if you had, and he named a shop that Tony Blair was known to have also purchased a shirt at, would that have meant that their weight was up for comparison? Even more so, who cares what Liz Kendall weighs. She’s in the public eye to present her ideas on how to run the country, something that’s got absolutely nothing to do with whether or not she wears the same dress size at Kate Middleton.

Plus, what’s with the quotation marks around ‘vest’? Was it a fake vest? What does that even mean Simon. Are you OK?

Asked about the question on 5 Live Radio, Liz said she found it ‘unbelievable’ that in today’s world that ‘women still get asked such very, very different questions from men’. She went on to say, ‘Can you imagine the Mail On Sunday asking the weight of the prime minister, George Osborne or any other leading politician? I cannot wait for a world when women are judged the same as men and not by those kinds of questions.’ Damn straight, Liz Kendall. The only thing you got wrong was not shouting the F word in his face 15 times over.
