Did Someone Say ‘Devil Wears Prada – The Musical’?

Get Ready For 'Devil Wears Prada - The Musical'

It's the news fans of The Devil Wears Prada have been waiting for... it's getting a comeback! According to Kevin McCollum, the Tony Award-winning director, the movie is heading to Broadway. The director has made no secret of his desire to adapt the 2006 film starring Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt.

But who can blame him? With super sharp lines such as "Is there some reason my coffee isn't here? Has she died or something?" plus the best ever on-screen wardrobe, The Devil Wears Prada had us all hooked from the get go.

For those who are unaware, the story is based around icy fashion magazine editor Miranda Priestley and her assistant, aspiring writer Andy Sachs. However rumour has it the plot was totally based on reality, with author of the hit chick flick, Lauren Weisberger, being a former assistant to Anna Wintour.

Although there's no word yet on the cast, or when tickets go on sale for that matter (yes, we're that keen), we thought we'd list what we expect to see from our ideal stage play ...

1. A costume department we want to break into.

Patricia Field famously styled the original film, and it's been claimed the clothing budget broke $1 million, featuring over 100 designers! We expect no less from this musical in the style stakes. However, can it be a little more 2015, please? Andy's flat-cap-and-buttoned-up-shirt look is nudging vintage noughties.

2. Meryl Streep to return as Miranda Priestley.

Let's be honest, no one can master sinister magazine ed with quite the same aplomb (unless Ms. Wintour wants a cameo?). With Mama Mia on her CV, Streep is perfect to reprise the role of the ice queen at the helm of Runway magazine, with utterly dead-pan sentences as memorable as: 'Find that piece of paper I had in my hand yesterday morning.'

3. "Florals? For Spring? Ground breaking."

Speaking of killer lines - we want them by the truck load. 'That's all'.

4. The blue jumper scene.

Who could forget the scene that made us all cringe? Otherwise known as the one where Andy looks like she desperately wants the carpet to swallow her up (avec cerulean sweater). 'That blue represents millions of dollars and countless jobs and so it's sort of comical how you think that you've made a choice that exempts you from the fashion industry when, in fact, you're wearing a sweater that was selected for you by the people in this room,' snarls Miranda. End of.

5. Andy's hot chef boyfriend.

We were in disbelief when Andy got all smitten with sleazy blonde Christian Thompson. We wouldn't miss your birthday Nate!

6. Not forgetting, Nigel.

Miranda's loyal art director, played by Stanley Tucci, gives Andy a makeover equally as impressive as the one Anne Hathaway received in the Princess Diaries.

7. The unpublished Harry Potter manuscript.

Possibly the number one in the list of impossible tasks Andy was set. 'We have all the published Harry Potter books. The twins want to know what happens next,' utters Mrs Priestley. Obviously.

8. Finally, the best couple of the film...

They recently reunited in a recent episode of Lip Synch Battle. We say let Emily Blunt and Anne Hathaway return as the two rival assistants.
