It's Wimbledon time of the year again, which means the tennis stars - and their wives - are out in full force.
One player making an impact on the court this year is British player Dan Evans, who is ranked as high as world No. 21 in singles by the ATP. He beat Jay Clarke, a wild cart entrant in the first round, before being defeated by Novak Djokovic in the second round.
After his victory against Clarke, he said: 'I thought, when I was walking to court, that I haven't won here in a little bit. It was amazing. Really unfortunate to have to play Jay, two guys from the Midlands, I grew up with his sister and we went to the same academy together,' adding 'Today meant everything. Wild card vs wild card but that was one of the top wins in my career.'
One person cheering Dan on from the side was his wife, Aleah. She was pictured watching nervously as Dan faced Djokovic from the player's box with the rest of his team.
Who is Dan Evan's wife Aleah?
Not that much is known about Aleah. She is originally from Cheltenham, and it's thought she has a corporate job. The couple are married, although it's unclear when exactly they decided to tie the knot.
She is regularly pictured watching her husband from the side of the court. She's previously supported his Wimbledon matches, and also when he played at the Paris Olympics in 2024. She has also been spotted at the Barcelona Open Blanc Sabadell, the 2023 United Cup, the Rolex Paris Masters in 2021, and the 2023 US Open.
How did Dan Evans and Aleah meet?
Dan and Aleah have known each other since 2017, and they met while she was working in Winchcombe. Evans was banned from sport at the time due to using cocaine, and Aleah supported him through the process.
The couple largely prefer to keep their relationship out of the spotlight. However, they've offered small glimpses into their life in interviews. In an interview with Gloucestershire Live, Evans spoke about their life together in Cheltenham. 'It’s been good (living in Cheltenham). I pretty much like to relax and not do much,' he said. 'It’s easy to be around here. It’s got a good coffee shop which always helps. Aleah and I always look for one when I’m on tour. It’s cool here but I’ve spent a lot of time away.'
What has Dan Evans said about his relationship?
Generally, it seems Dan prefers to keep his private life away from the cameras and focus on his sport instead. However during his pre-Wimbledon press conference, Dan did seem to give us rare insight into his personal life as he reflected on the past year.
'It's been awful basically,' he said. 'It's not… it's not the matches, it's uh… It's when you feel like you let people down, that's the tougher thing about it.'
He continued: 'I have no idea why I'm getting upset. But you go home to your wife and she travels. You see the kids – not my kids obviously – and (they ask), 'Did you win?' Just stupid things… you just feel a bit, you're not used to losing. That's probably more of the thing.'
