There aren't many countries where guns are less frowned upon than dildos, but America is seemingly one of them. A new law rules that as of August 2016, anyone with a "properly-licensed" firearm can carry a concealed gun on campus in Texas. Dildos (and other sex toys), on the other hand, are not allowed under the Texas Penal Code and the university's rules.
Guns in America have been an issue for pretty much ever, but we can scarcely imagine a world more terrifying than one in which any and all of our classmates could whip out a gun at any minute, especially as the frequency with which this appears to happen is frightfully high. Indeed, it's been a pretty horrific week (month/year/lifetime) in the US for gun violence. On one day last week, one student was killed and another man wounded in a shooting at a Texas University, while across the country another student shot four people and killed one. According to the Kansas City Star, there have been a total of 52 school shootings in America this year alone.
The new law is supposed to help people better defend themselves in the case of a shooter (or contribute to mass panic and hysteria: whichever). But not everyone is happy about this, with Jessica Jin - a student at the University of Texas in Austin - setting up a Facebook event enciting protest with a pretty epic slogan that reads: 'Cocks Not Glocks', which encourages students to strap dildos to their backpacks on the first day of the new semester next August.
'You're carrying a gun to class? Yeah well I'm carrying a HUGE DILDO. Just about as effective at protecting us from sociopathic shooters, but much safer for recreational play,' reads the event description. Yup, yup and yup. It continues: 'The State of Texas has decided that it is not at all obnoxious to allow deadly concealed weapons in classrooms, however it DOES have strict rules about free sexual expression, to protect your innocence. You would receive a citation for taking a DILDO to class before you would get in trouble for taking a gun to class. Heaven forbid the penis.'
Jin is now receiving death threats because... we're not sure. Further evidence, it seems, people are more offended by dildos than guns.
