Nothing makes us happier than cheese (there’s even science to prove why). Whether it’s melt in the mouth mac’n’cheese, irresistible baked camembert or the unbeatable classic that is cheese on toast, this dairy based staple never fails to disappoint.

Now, there’s a bar opening dedicated to our all-time favourite food. And about time too. Aptly named The Cheese Bar, this cheesey destination is the genius work of Matthew Carver of The Cheese Truck fame.

Back in 2013 Carver started selling his now famous grilled cheese sandwiches from a 1970’s ice cream van on London’s Maltby Street Market. Naturally it went down a storm, and in their first two years they’ve sold a whopping twenty tonnes of cheese, and somewhere in the region of 100,000 grilled cheese sandwiches.

Carver has taken the van to events, festivals and fashion shows around the world, but now he is setting up home in Camden. Following a successful Crowdfunding campaign, Carver has acquired a permanent space in the Grade 1 listed Camden Market.

As well as the famous grilled cheese sandwiches, they will also be serving up a whole host of cheesy delights such as queso fundido (a Mexican take on fondue), and chocolate sundaes made with creamy ewes milk cheese. Our mouths are watering as we type.

In keeping with their original ethos of celebrating the best of British cheese making, the bar will offer up over thirty different cheese for you to try alongside a large selection of craft beers.

Opening in the first week of March, we will race you to the bar.
