A Swansea Oxfam bookshop is begging for people to stop bringing in their old copies of the Fifty Shades trilogy, after they received enough copies to build a pretty substantial fort.
The charity shop reportedly has recieved hundreds of copies of the books. Shop owner, Phil Broadhurst said 'We get people bringing in new copies coming in all the time. Enough is enough.' He added 'We appreciate the donations, but less Fifty Shades and more Sixties and Seventies vinyl would be good.'
Fifty Shades of Grey was the first book in a trilogy, released in 2011, which explored the BDSM dom/sub relationship between Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey. Sold as an erotic novel for women, the book launched international interest and in 2015 a film starring Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan, made over $500 million worldwide from box office sales.
The Fifty Shades trend is definitely over and, as a result, we've had to find our shitty erotic novel fix elsewhere. May we suggest going old school and cracking into your mum's Jackie Collins collection...?
