We live in an world where there is an app for pretty much everything: from online shopping, to dating, to telling you the perfect time to go for a wee during a movie (yes, really). The same goes for Catholics - gone are the days of having to see your local priest to offload your burdens, now Catholics can satisfy their burning desire to confess on the go via The Catholic App.
Nicknamed 'Sindr' (we think this name is way funnier), the app uses GPS 'confession-finder' technology to locate your nearest church offering confession, so you can pop in while you're out and about, then go about your day absolved. Kind of like Tinder, except they're not going to send you a dick pic first.
Officially launched on Tuesday in an appropriately lofty setting of St Peter's Basilica in Rome, Archbishop Leo Cushley of St Andrews & Edinburgh said: 'This is a little bit of smart technology that could make a big impact on how the Catholic Church brings the mercy of God and the joy of the Gospel to our contemporary world,'
The app is one of many ways religions are attempting to contemporise their practices, which continue to develop the way people practice their faith in the modern digital world.
