As arguably two of the most high-profile transgender women in America, it’s hard to believe that up until last night, Caitlyn Jenner and Laverne Cox had not actually met in real life.

Sure, they have become closest of pals on various Social Media outlets in recent weeks, with the* Orange is The New Black* star being fantastically vocal in her support of Caitlyn’s recent transition: ‘Yasss Gawd! Werk Caitlyn! Get it!’ she posted on a blog on Tumblr in response to Caitlyn’s Vanity Fair cover, adding, ‘Yes, Caitlyn looks amazing and is beautiful but what I think is most beautiful about her is her heart and soul, the ways she has allowed the world into her vulnerabilities.’

Meanwhile on Twitter, 65-year-old Caitlyn has reciprocated tweeting at Laverne ‘You are fierce & fabulous! Your support means the world. Thank you for all that you do for the community.’ At a special screening of Caitlyn’ forthcoming E! docuseries about her transition, ‘I am Cait’, the two were pictured together alongside other well-known transgender women including the actress and artist, Candis Cayne.

Laverne posted on Instagram a picture of her wearing a black crop top and Caitlyn wearing a white blouse and jeans, ‘@caitlynjenner and I finally met in person at a special private advance screening of #IAmCait #TransIsBeautiful #girlslikeus #caitlynjenner’. The 31-year-old actress has previously revealed that Caitlyn consulted her before transitioning.
