OH FOR FFFFFFS SAKE.
Right. So there was a study. It's a new study published on the BMJ Opensite and it's been done by a bunch of Southampton University Students and in it's results it found that men were far less likely to want to use a condom if a girl was attractive.
Cool.
First things first, it's not the most comprehensive study. They surveyed 51 people. Which seems like it's probably not enough to be a satisfactory test group.
The results though, however contentious, are interesting.
What happened was, the men, all of whom were heterosexual, English-speaking, and aged between 18 and 69 years old, were asked to rate the attractiveness of 20 women based on photographs, take a punt on how much they looked like they had STDs and say how willing they were to have sex with that woman without a condom.
What they found was that men wanted to have sex with the women they found to be attractive. Obviously. But they also said they'd be less likely to intend to use a condom.
The guys would be more likely to use a condom if they thought the girl was less attractive and if they thought they had an STD.
According to this report of the study, attractiveness wasn't a factor when it came to assuming women had STDs which is something. However, the overall findings are still worrying in themselves. Wrap it up chaps.
