Bobbi Kristina Brown has died, six months after she was found unconscious in a bathtub at her home in Georgia.

The 22-year-old passed away on Sunday at Peachtree Christian Hospice, surrounded by family.

Bobbi Kristina's death comes just three years after her mother Whitney Houston drowned in a bathtub at the Beverly Hills Hilton hotel.

In a statement via a representative, her family said: 'Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away July, 26 2015, surrounded by her family. She is finally at peace in the arms of God. We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months.'

The 22-year-old was found unresponsive in her bathtub on Saturday 31 January after reportedly spending between two and five minutes facedown under water. She shared the home with partner Nick Gordon.

Bobbi was placed in a medically induced coma but was taken off life support in April. At the time, her grandmother Cissy Houston had claimed she had 'irreversible brain damage'.

Last month her family transferred her to Peachtree Christian Hospice so she could 'die naturally'.

Nick has been banned from visiting Bobbi Kristina in recent months and in April her aunt Patricia Houston obtained a restraining order against him.

Police are said to be treating the death of Bobbi Kristina - who is said to have had  bruises on her face and body, swollen lips and a missing tooth at the time she was found in January - as a murder investigation, TMZ reports.

Nick is reportedly a person of interest in the case.

In the wake of the sad news a number of famous faces and friends of Bobbi and her mother Whitney have paid tribute to the aspiring singer.

Oprah Winfrey tweeted: 'Peace at Last! #BobbiKristina' while Kylie Jenner wrote: 'Rest in peace #BobbiKristina. Got a chance to hang out with u once & I'll never forget it or you! Ugh this is so sad :(.'

Singer Missy Elliott wrote: 'My heart is truly heavy. May u rest in peace with your mommy... sending prayers 2 the Brown'Houston family.'
