Bloomingdale's Apologises For Advert Promoting Date Rape

Luxury department store Bloomingdales has apologised for the catalogue advert it released which basically promoted date rape.

Promoting Rebecca Minkoff merch, the ad shows a man looking at a woman who is looking in the opposite direction with the caption ‘Spike Your Best Friend’s Eggnog When They’re Not Looking’.

Whoever thought that was going to fly needs to take a good hard look at themselves. Predictably, Twitter went into meltdown almost immediately – and it’s difficult to see how Bloomingdale’s thought it would get away with this.

Perhaps it is a publicity stunt? Either way, they’ve apologised over Twitter and hopefully in future will think before telling people to date rape their best friend.
