There’s nothing like a sudden drop in temperature (who turned the sun out?!) to make your morning commute even more woeful and get you considering a change of career, is there? Well, expect to start drafting your resignation letter because an advert has just been posted that will make you want to quit your job immediately, if not sooner.
An animal shelter in Tyneside has just put out a job advert asking for volunteers to come in to cuddle kittens after an influx in recent months.
The Westgate Ark shelter says they need people to come in and socialise and play with the kittens in order to make it easier for them to be re-homed. A large number of the feral cats in the area either come in with kittens or are pregnant, and socialising kittens as young as possible makes them much easier pets later on, increasing their chances of finding a happy home when it’s time to leave the shelter.
You see, it’s all for a very good cause as well.
According to the Evening Chronicle, people are being enouraged to come into the shelter and spend a couple of hours playing with, stroking and cuddling the tiny little balls of love. And they’re dishing out free wine and minced pies as well. Best. Job. Ever.
But are there any other job adverts that are in contention for being the best in the world? Well, in close second is the role of professional sleeper, which was advertised by a Finnish hotel last year. The successful candidate would have had to spend 35 days testing out their beds and blog about it, which sounds pretty cushty to us.

And a hotly contended third place has to go to the £20,000 graduate job as a waterslide tester for First Choice; followed by desert island caretaker; with Krug’s Champagne tester role coming in at a solid fifth.
