The American teen who lost a suit against her parents in which she demanded child support has moved back home.

Sean and Elizabeth Canning said they were ‘dumbfounded’ by the lawsuit, in which the cheerleader sought child support of $650 (£388) per week to cover child support, plus current and future tuition, and legal fees.

18-year-old Rachel Canning had accused her father of inappropriate affection, said her mother called her ‘porky’ which lead to bulimia, and said she was forced to binge-drink alcohol. A Department of Children and Families investigation cleared her father of the abuse claims, concluding that Rachel was just ‘spoiled’.

She moved out of the house and into the home of her best friend whose father John Inglesino paid her legal fees.

It also emerged that Rachel had threatened to sue a teacher who tried to get her to leave a school dance for allegedly being drunk. This girl must really love suing people. Another hearing about financial support had been set for April 22; it’s not clear if this will go ahead.

According to her parents' attorney Angelo Sarno: ‘[Rachel] has returned home and reunited with her parents and siblings. Her return home is not contingent on any financial and/or other considerations’.

We wonder what the chat will be like around the Canning dinner table now! Oh, to be a fly on the wall.
