Aldi Has Only Gone And Spoofed The John Lewis Advert

In the battle of the Christmas adverts, Aldi created a tongue-in-cheek parody of John Lewis’ Man on the Moon, and had social media users loving it every single second of it.

The budget supermarket’s version has their own old man stuck on the moon – so far, so John Lewis. However, Aldi’s Man on the Moon has a choice between two telescopes (aren’t they a nice bunch!).

Aldi’s old man says he likes both telescopes in the advert, but inevitably is ‘over the moon’ with the cheaper one. As he looks through the lens, he spots Jean Jones, who has featured in their previous adverts of the discount store, floating towards him on an armchair tied to balloons.

Jonathan Neale, joint managing director of corporate buying at Aldi, told the Mirror, ‘Jean quickly became a national treasure for her love of our Oliver Cromwell London Dry Gin when she first appeared on our screens in 2011’.
